is chair of the music department at Laney College (Oakland, CA) and on the faculty of the Crowden School and the John Adams Young Composers Program (Berkeley, CA). He has presented talks about exploring Music History on KPFA Radio and at the Berkeley Public Library. As a former professional member of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, he participated in Grammy winning recordings on Decca, RCA, and Paramount Pictures. Sacred music positions have included: music director of All Souls Episcopal Church (Berkeley), tenor soloist for St. Mary’s Cathedral (San Francisco) and Congregation Rodef Beth Shalom (San Rafael).

His last name is pronounced like Max Reger (no relation)
